Profile

Dr Dennett works as a specialist colorectal surgeon at both Wellington and Wakefield hospitals.

In addition to her clinical practice she is an Associate Professor in surgery at Otago University and a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons examiner in general surgery.  She has also been the chair of the RACS NZ Regional Training Board for General Surgery and the Board in General Surgery RACS.

She is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and NZ; Section of Colorectal Surgery, RACS; International Anal Neoplasia Society; NZ Association of General Surgeons; and NZ Medical Association. 

She was the first New Zealand female general surgeon appointed to the court of examiners Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Specialist Training: 

Dr Dennett trained in general surgery in Invercargill, Dunedin and Auckland. After completing her general surgery training she undertook post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand in Melbourne and Sydney.
She is a fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
