Profile

Josie and her family moved from the United Kingdom to New Zealand in 2009 after living, training and working there for 20 years.

She qualified as a doctor from the University of Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College in 1988 and after a couple of years training in Paediatric Surgery, moved to the UK to embark on higher surgical training. She obtained a fellowship for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1996 and the Part III Fellowship for the same college in 2006.

Interests

I offer a range of breast reconstructive surgery including Tissue-expander/ direct to implant reconstruction, Latissimus Dorsi flap and TRAM flap reconstruction as well as augmentation or breast reduction on the normal side to achieve symmetry as part of the overall reconstructive "package" for women. I also undertake prophylactic surgery for women with inherited BRCA 1 or 2 gene for risk reduction. I offer specialist consultation for women with new or ongoing breast concerns.

As a General Surgeon, I routinely perform Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open hernia operations, varicose veins surgery, Upper and lower GI Endoscopy and minor procedures. I welcome an opportunity to provide care for your patients and also look forward to meeting my General Practitioner colleagues in person in the near future.
