MB ChB 2002 Auckland; FRACP 2011

I am a New Zealand trained Endocrinologist, Diabetologist and Specialist Physician of Chinese descent who was born in Malaysia. Most of my earlier years were spent in Malaysia but I have lived in New Zealand for 15 years, giving me a unique perspective on the cultural aspects of both societies. I speak English fluently and am able to converse in Bahasa Malaysia (Malay), Hokkien, Mandarin and Cantonese.

I attended the Auckland School of Medicine and graduated in 2002 with my MBChB degree. I then completed my specialist training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Internal Medicine in the Auckland region and was awarded fellowship (FRACP) of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2011.

Since 2011, I have been practising at Middlemore Hospital as a Consultant Endocrinologist, Diabetologist and Specialist Physician. In my current practice, I see patients who present with problems encompassing all aspects of diabetes and endocrinology, but I do have a particular interest in thyroid disease. My practice at Middlemore Hospital also includes an active involvement in the teaching of medical students and the training of future physicians/specialists.

All aspects of endocrinology and diabetes, with special interest in:

1. Thyroid, parathyroid and calcium disorders
2. Diabetes mellitus
3. Metabolic bone disease (osteoporosis, Paget's)
4. Pituitary and adrenal disorders
5. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
6. Male hypogonadism
7. Hypertension management.
