Reza is an interventional and general cardiologist based in Northland.. He has trained in clinical and academic cardiology in UK, USA and NZ.

Reza graduated from The University of Manchester (UK) with an honours degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) in 2006. He was awarded his membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) of UK in 2009. He was awarded an NIHR academic clinical fellowship to pursue training in academic cardiology and was later awarded a British Heart Foundation (BHF) fellowship to carry out his work towards his PhD in cardiovascular medicine.

Reza has undertaken postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA. Following his return to UK, he was appointed as an NIHR academic clinical lecturer at the University of Manchester whilst completing his interventional cardiology training at Manchester Royal Infirmary. He was awarded a prestigious British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) fellowship and worked at Auckland City Hospital training in complex PCI. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

Reza is passionate about research and education and is an honorary senior lecturer at both The University of Auckland and The University of Manchester (UK).

In the public system, he is based at Whangārei hospital and provides interventional cardiology (PCI, angiograms and stents), and coronary CT (CTCA) services at Whangārei hospital. In addition, he offers general cardiology consults for acute inpatients as well as specialist advice for GPs. He has regular cardiology clinics at Whangārei hospital and Bay of Islands hospital.

In his spare time, Reza enjoys travelling, photography and exploring the beautiful beaches and trails around NZ.
