Profile

Dr Lim qualified in medicine in 2011 from Scotland and completed his radiology and interventional radiology training in Edinburgh, Scotland.  He undertook his post graduate interventional radiology clinical fellowships in both Edinburgh and Auckland. Dr Lim has published and presented in various international meetings. He has also done multiple visiting observerships to leading IR centres across Europe and US.  He was a committee member on the British Society of Interventional Radiology trainee group and a clinical associate with the University of Edinburgh.

He is the current clinical lead for interventional radiology in Wellington Regional Hospital. His daily practice includes a wide range of minimally invasive ‘pin-hole’ procedures including treatment for uterine fibroids & adenomyosis with uterine artery embolisation (UAE), angioplasty for vascular disease,  transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) for liver tumours, embolisation for acute bleeding, line insertions, embolisation in men for varicoceles and in women for pelvic congestion syndrome.

He has worked actively performing and promoting new procedures such as prostate embolisation, cryoablation for treatment of renal tumours, endovascular atherectomy, lithotripsy and lytic free venous thrombectomy since joining the public hospital.

Interests

Dr Lim's main interest is in complex peripheral vascular intervention for critical limb ischaemia and deep venous disease, in which he works closely with the vascular surgeons and oncologic intervention such as chemoembolisation and tumour ablations.
