Profile

Tiv Senanayake graduated MBBS in London in 2005. Following two years working in hospitals in England he moved to New Zealand and pursued specialty training in radiation oncology in Wellington, obtaining FRANZCR in 2015. A fellowship at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto in 2018 preceded him taking up a permanent consultant position in Dunedin Hospital till 2023.  Tiv has now joined the team at St George’s Cancer Care in Christchurch providing access for patients in the South Island via clinics in Dunedin, and also treatments on the new MRI Linear accelerator.

Breast, head and neck, lung, skin and palliative radiotherapy are Tiv's subspecialty interests and is experienced in multiple radiotherapy modalities including IMRT/VMAT, SABR, SXR, and brachytherapy.  He enjoys teaching having previously been the Director of Training for RANZCR radiation oncology registrars in Dunedin, and now is on the Training and Education Committee for the college.

Tiv provides a friendly, holistic and collaborative approach to his consultations.  He values clear communication and provision of information tailored to each individual patient.
