Chris is a general surgeon with an interest in colorectal surgery, endoscopy and skin cancer. He is currently Clinical Director of General Surgery as well as Clinical Director of Innovation and Transformation.
Chris migrated to New Zealand in 2015 after six years consultant practice in a large university hospital in the UK. He trained in general surgery in the West Midlands and undertook a fellowship year at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK.
He has a strong research background and has an honorary Senior Lecturer post at Auckland University. He is currently leading local projects into skin cancer, major trauma and health inequities in gastrointestinal cancer. This work has led to publications in the medical literature and presentations at national meetings.
Chris is dedicated to improving surgical outcomes for the patients of Northland through his clinical, research and audit work.
Outside the hospital Chris enjoys taking advantage of the Northland coast, fishing, diving and relaxing on the beach with his family.
