Dan is a UK-trained oncoplastic breast surgeon who has been in New Zealand since 2018. Dan hails from the north of England, but trained in Manchester, Birmingham and London. He has undertaken training in some of the most prominent oncoplastic breast units in Europe, including the Royal Marsden Hospital London, Imperial College London, South Manchester University Hospitals and University Hospitals Birmingham. He undertook some plastic surgical training in Manchester, and a clinical observership with Monsieur Emmanuelle Delay at the prestigious Centre Léon Bérard in Lyon, France. He undertook research at Imperial College London, and has presented internationally at conferences on multiple occasions.

Dan undertook an oncoplastic fellowship at Imperial College London, and came to New Zealand with his family whilst his wife was undertaking a period of training here. In that year, he got a short term post at Waikato Hospital working with Prof Ian Campbell, and during that time he was offered a longer term role. He worked at Waikato for three and a half years, before relocating for a consultant post in Wellington and Hutt Hospitals, where he started in February 2022.
