Profile

Mr Francis Ting is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who works in New Plymouth servicing the Taranaki region.

Francis grew up in Auckland, completed his Medical degree in Otago University, spending time in Dunedin and Christchurch School of Medicine.  He has gained a vast amount of his Orthopaedic training in major high volume centres around the Auckland region and Hamilton.  He also spent time in New Plymouth where he and his family grew in love with the city and its people, and had always planned to return to call Taranaki home.  

Mr Ting went abroad to complete his subspecialty fellowship training in upper limb surgery.  He trained in the internationally renowned Hand and Upper Limb Centre in Canada where he learned from world’s best Orthopaedic Surgeons and Plastic Surgeons.  He also completed fellowship training in shoulder, elbow and knee surgery in Australia with a world class innovative surgeon.  Mr Ting is proficient in arthroscopic, microscopic, minimally invasive and open surgery.

He consults at Peak Orthopaedics and operates at Taranaki Base and South Cross Hospital, New Plymouth.

Interests

Mr Ting specialises in upper limb surgery with an interest in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery. He is happy to help with any upper limb trauma and elective conditions.

In addition to upper limb conditions, Mr Ting is experienced in undertaking general orthopaedic procedures, Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacements.

Post-Fellowship Training

Mr Francis Ting graduated from Otago University, School of Medicine in 2006 and completed his Orthopaedic training in New Zealand to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. Following this, he completed two fellowships abroad, spending time in Coastal Orthopaedics & Sports Injury, NSW, Australia for his subspecialty training in Shoulder, Elbow and Knee surgery, and in Ontario, Canada working with world renowned experts in the Roth McFarlane Hand & Upper Limb Centre, completing his Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand subspecialty training.
