Profile

Dr Rob Elliott is a New Zealand trained orthopaedic surgeon who offers specialist care of shoulder, elbow, hip and knee injuries and degenerative conditions. 

He performs joint preservation, reconstruction and replacement when non-operative measures have been exhausted or immediate surgery is required. 

Specialty procedures performed by Dr Elliott include keyhole (arthroscopic) rotator cuff repair, shoulder and hip labral repair, knee ACL reconstruction, meniscectomy and meniscal repair, minimally invasive total hip replacement via a Direct Anterior Approach (DAA), computer navigated total knee replacement, and elbow arthroscopy. 

Rob completed his medical degree in 2003 and worked as a resident doctor in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. He began working in orthopaedics in Ireland in 2007. He completed a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine, through the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in 2008. Following this he returned to New Zealand to compete for a position on the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association’s training program. He began formal orthopaedic training in 2009 and passed the final fellowship exams in 2014.

Dr Elliott completed two years of fellowship subspecialty training in:

  • Computer-guided knee replacement and total hip replacement - North Shore Hospital, Auckland
  • Shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty with Professor Alex Castagna - Humanitas Hospital, Milan, Italy
  • Sports knee surgery with Andy Williams and Simon Ball - Fortius Clinic (FIFA accredited) and Chelsea Westminster Hospital, London, UK
  • Shoulder and Elbow arthroscopy and arthroplasty with Ass Prof Simon Bell and Richard Dallalana - Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow centre and Park Clinic, Melbourne, Australia
  • Hip arthroscopy and Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) hip replacement with Phong Tran - SOS Clinic and Western Health, Melbourne, Australia
