Ryan has been working as an orthopaedic consultant at Hutt Hospital since July 2012. His main areas of interest are sports orthopaedics mainly focusing on knee injuries, hip and knee joint replacement surgery and spinal surgery.

Ryan is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, and a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.

Specialist Training: 

Ryan is a graduate of Auckland University and started his advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2006. He gained his fellowship in 2009 and then sub-specialised in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine initially in Auckland for six months completing the Adidas Sports Fellowship (2010) and then a further six months in Western Australia completing the Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship (2010). He then travelled to London Ontario, Canada where he completed a further year of sub-specialty training in Spinal Surgery (2012).
