Profile
Stephen is an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Varicose Vein Specialist, married with two daughters and one son. He graduated from Birmingham University 1991 and undertook his initial surgical training around the West Midlands, UK in General, Vascular and Transplant Surgery. Stephen gained his General FRCS in 1996. Following a period of scientific research Stephen was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine in 2001. Further senior sub-specialty training in Breast and Plastic Surgery led to FRCS with a Breast Specialty exam in 2005. Following further training and experience in non-surgical Varicose Veins procedures Stephen was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Phlebology in 2011.
Later in 2005, Stephen and his family moved permanently to New Zealand where Stephen rotated through Hamilton, North Shore and Auckland Hospitals before becoming a New Zealand Specialist. The combined General and Plastic surgery training enables Stephen to offer a wide range of Breast Surgery including breast cancer surgery, cosmetic breast surgery (augmentation and reduction), benign breast and nipple surgery and breast cancer reconstruction. The combined vascular and transplant training enables Stephen to offer the full range of surgical and non surgical varicose vein treatments including sclerotherapy, Laser and Radiofrequency Ablation.
Stephen sits on the Board of the Australasian College of Phlebology (ACP) and the Board of Censors. Stephen is an examiner for the ACP and Chairman of the New Zealand branch of the ACP.
