Ms Mary Nugent completed undergraduate medical training in Galway (West of Ireland) and subsequent postgraduate surgical and orthopaedic training in multiple hospitals around Ireland. This was followed by fellowship training in Christchurch (Canterbury DHB/University of Otago) and Australia (Royal Adelaide Hospital) before returning to New Zealand in July 2020 to take up a consultant post at Rotorua Hospital. Public practice predominantly consists of hip and knee replacement, particularly revision surgery and management of arthroplasty complications, along with general orthopaedic trauma. Private practice is mainly primary hip and knee arthroplasty.
