Southern Cross Hospital is home to the Wellington Specialist Vein Clinic, which is a centre of excellence for vascular disease management and boasts a recently commissioned advanced ‘hybrid’ operating room. The state-of-the-art centre was developed in close consultation with a group of the region’s vascular specialists, who consult and operate in a private capacity from Southern Cross Hospital.
This vascular services centre also offers patients the very latest vascular ultrasound and non-invasive testing, and is staffed by dedicated vascular sonographers. Conditions commonly treated by vascular surgeons include artery diseases, aneurysms and complex vein problems. The new hybrid theatre incorporates leading-edge medical technology - providing both an operating room and catheterisation lab for complex interventions and surgical procedures.
