Māngere Refugee Health Service (MRHS) provides holistic, integrated primary care and health screening to UNHCR quota refugees on arrival in New Zealand whilst resident at Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa– Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre. We contribute to the continuum of health screening, assessment, and treatment provided at all stages of their resettlement journey.
We operate as a primary care practice for former refugees while they are resident at Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa– Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre prior to their resettlement in different regions of New Zealand. We provide screening, immunisation planning and vaccine administration, family planning and supply of medications during their stay. Once the former refugees are resettled into regions and enrolled with a GP, we electronically transfer their notes to the new GP.
Note to the enrolling practices: Please do not enrol our patients while they are still residing at Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre. Send the completed and signed enrolment forms for each individual to mangererefugee.healthservice@middlemore.co.nz once they have left the Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre and are enrolled at your practice. We aim to process GP2GP within 5 working days. Please specify in the email if your request is urgent and we will prioritize your request. The notes transfer happens via GP2GP overnight with our Indici PMS.
