Description

The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) midwives are a small team of community midwives who care  for pregnancies where the mother or baby has a medical or pregnancy complication, and on referral from a GP or other health professional. They work with a team of specialist doctors and run clinics at Middlemore Hospital or Manukau SuperClinic.

The MFM midwives:

  • provide care before and after the birth for pregnant people with medical conditions where pregnancy can cause problems for either mum or baby
  • help other midwives to manage common medical conditions
  • liaise with specialists on behalf of other midwives when needed.

Care during labour and birth is provided by midwives employed by Middlemore Hospital.

The midwife will give you their cell phone number so you can contact them during working hours. Out of hours help is given by Birthing and Assessment on (09) 276 0056
