We have three teams
Fanau Ola Team

Fanau Ola is a collective of Pacific senior nurses and a dedicated Social Worker specialising in medical specialties. They are committed to delivering excellence in culturally grounded, patient centred care that empowers Pacific patients and their families throughout their healthcare journey.
- Clinical excellence providing advanced nursing expertise and education in Cardiology, Renal, and Oncology to enhance quality outcomes for Pacific patients.
- Cultural and clinical advocacy championing equitable, culturally safe care that respects Pacific values and strengthens patient engagement.
- Integrated care collaboration, partnering with wards and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate seamless, holistic care and effective discharge planning.
- Responsive service delivery, Offering daily ward presence and referral based support to ensure timely, proactive care for Pacific patients.
- Holistic Social Work support, delivering specialised Social Work services to address psychosocial, financial, and family wellbeing needs that impact health outcomes.
Cultural Support Team
- Our Pacific Cultural Advisors help bridge the gap between healthcare providers and Pacific communities, leading to improved patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
- Cultural Liaison and Advocacy, facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers ensuring cultural awareness and patient advocacy through cares are met during their health journey.
- Patient and Family support, providing emotional and spiritual support and supporting a safe well co-ordinated patient discharge from hospital to community transition.
- Educating staff on Pacific cultures and provide consultancy to enhance cultural awareness and patient interactions. Integration Pacific Worldview health models in multidisciplinary care to ensure a holistic culturally relevant care planning.
- Establish and sustain partnerships with Pacific communities to increase patient support and hospital service accessibility.
Pacific Planned Care Team
- We are a team of Pacific senior nurses that are competent in our own culture and speak our ethnic language.
- Our focus is supporting Pacific patients going through the surgical pathway, from first consultation to surgery.
- We work in partnership with Pacific patients, delivering education and guidance with navigating their journey in the healthcare system, in a culturally appropriate way and often interact with our patients in their own native language
- We also work collaboratively with wards and departments within the hospital to support Pacific patients as much as possible to ensure a successful outcome and a positive experience.
