Primary Birthing Unit - Ōamaru
Ōamaru Maternity Centre specialises in birth support services. The unit is staffed by a mix of midwives and nurses who cover postnatal care. There are two birthing rooms, including a birthing pool, and three postnatal rooms. An on-call 24/7 service operates with a LMC (lead maternity care) caseloading team. The centre has two antenatal clinic rooms and an obstetrician holds an obstetric clinic once a month in the hospital’s outpatient department. They are a breastfeeding friendly accredited (BFHI) unit and offer lactation support services for those booked with an Ōamaru Maternity Centre LMC.
