Programmes

Incredible Years Parenting Programme

We know parenting can be challenging at times and some support can make a big difference! What to expect The Incredible Years programme involves parents attending fun interactive weekly group sessions. The sessions are run over 1-2 school terms and involve plenty of time to discuss and practise new ways to manage children’s challenging behaviour, get ideas for growing positive social skills in children, and find ways to enhance relationships in families. The Incredible Years Specialist Team also run the Dinosaur Programme and offer a Home Coaching Programme. Dinosaur Programme The Dinosaur Treatment Programme works with children with conduct problems, ADHD and internalising problems. It is delivered in 2-hour weekly small group sessions (6 children per group) for 18-22 weeks. Ideally, it is offered alongside the 2-hour weekly parenting programme group sessions, so parents have an opportunity to encourage their children's learning in Dinosaur School in their interactions with them at home. Home Coaching Programme (Tauranga only) In Tauranga, an additional Home Coaching Programme is available to selected families. During the Incredible Years Programme, the Tauranga team will carry out testing to see if you and your child would benefit from the Home Coaching Programme. The Incredible Years Home Coaching programme provides additional support for parents attending the Incredible Years Parenting Programme and who are struggling significantly with their child's behaviour. A social worker will visit the family weekly to provide individual coaching on how to put what is being taught in the Parenting Programme into practice at home.
