Referral Process

Access to the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service is restricted to:

  • Individuals aged 18 - 30 years experiencing their first episode of psychosis
  • Individuals under 18 years experiencing their first episode of psychosis and it has been agreed with Youth Specialty Service that EIPS is the most appropriate service for them
  • Woman of any age experiencing psychosis associated with pregnancy or birth, and first episode of psychosis.

Description

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service treats young people aged 18 - 30 experiencing first-episode psychosis, and mothers experiencing postpartum psychosis for the first time irrespective of age. The treatment is provided through intensive therapy, education, and support, to recovery in a safe and supportive environment by a highly skilled specialised multidisciplinary team. We strive to involve the client’s family and whānau as a key element of the client’s recovery.
