Relief of Pain Clinic for Adults (18 years and over) with Community Service Cards

What is the Relief of Pain Service?

  • Emergency dental pain relief for adults (18 years and over) with Community Service Cards only.
  • You will be asked to show your Community Service Card on arrival.

What will it cost?

  • $40, to be paid on the day of treatment. 
  • We accept payment by cash or EFTPOS.
  • Some treatments will have extra charges, the dentist will advise you of any additional charges.

 What will my $40 cover?

  • A consultation plus an x-ray and/or a simple extraction of one tooth if required.
  • If during the consultation it is discovered the extraction is not simple, (for example surgical extraction, wisdom teeth) you will be advised to seek treatment from a private provider. 
  • You may request copies of any x-rays taken to give to your private provider.

 How can I be seen at the clinic?

  • You must phone and book an appointment.
  • Appointments are made for the next working day.
  • There are limited appointments each day.
  • Once the clinic is fully booked for the next working day the phone line will be closed with a message advising options, including; seeking treatment from a private dentist, contacting other providers for Community Service Card holders (a list of these can be found below) or calling the next working day.

 What day/time is the clinic open?

  • Greenlane Clinical Centre clinic days: Monday to Friday (not available on public holidays)
  • Buckland Road Community Dental Clinic: Monday to Friday (not available on public holidays)
  • Phone (09) 630 9809 to make an appointment
  • The phone line opens at 8:30am Monday to Friday

What do I need to bring?

  • Please bring a list of any medications you are taking, any private x-rays or test results you may have
  • Your Community Service Card as you will be asked to present it at reception  
  • Photo identification (drivers licence or passport)
  • Proof of residency

 What if the clinic is full and I cannot be seen?

  • Seek treatment from a private dentist
  • Community Service Card holder can seek treatment number of selected private dental practices.  A list of these providers can be found Alternative Relief of Pain Providers
  • If you do not wish to be seen by another provider you can try again the next working day.

What if I have a facial swelling?

  • If you have a facial swelling please contact your dentist, doctor or hospital emergency department immediately.

What if my child is in pain?

  • If your child is in pain please contact the Auckland Regional Dental Service in the first instance (0800 TALK TEETH, 0800 825 583) who will assess your child and if required refer to Auckland Regional Hospital & Specialist Dentistry.
