Description
We are a team of Specialist Nurses who work with babies, children, young people and their families with special health needs. We work within the Counties Manukau region and visit you in your own home.
We work closely with the hospital, your family doctor and anyone else helping you care for your baby, child or young person.
We are also assisted by paediatric Dietitians delivering nursing and dietary interventions for babies and children who are medically fragile, have a chronic illness or disability or who require post-discharge follow-up for 72 hours.
More information is available in our Service Brochure (please note this is also available in the following languages: Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Hindi and Chinese).
Services provided:
Neonatal Care

Referral Expectations
Accessing our service:
Referrals are made to Kidz First Home Care Nurses by your child's doctor or nurse. This may be after a visit to hospital or one of the specialist children's or young people's clinics.
Before you are referred to the Kidz First Home Care Nurses you will be asked for your consent to have a nurse visit you at home.
After your referral:
- A nurse will contact you to arrange a home visit. You are welcome to have other family members with you at any visit.
- We can arrange an interpreter in many different languages, if you need one please tell us.
- Maaori and Pacifika cultural support is available to attend home visits.
When do we visit?
We visit when asked by your referring doctor or nurse depending on your baby's, child's or young person's needs. We visit you during the day.
