Respite Service (Out of Home Support)

Respite (Out of Home Support) is provided by Waitematā DHB and is free for families in the Auckland and Northland regions. The service is for children 0-16 years old who have disabilities, are medically fragile and have high support needs.

Entry to the service can be requested through your Needs Assessment and Service Coordination team who will refer you to our service,  or contact us on (09) 488 4688 ext 45876 to discuss your interest and arrange a visit.

This service provides periodic relief to families who have children with multiple or complex needs living at home or in the community.

Your child can enjoy a range of planned stays, which may include day stays, overnight weekdays, weekends and school holidays.  24-hour care is provided by registered nurses, enrolled nurses and skilled hospital aides. We have play specialists as part of our team who provide opportunities for play and recreation.

Our vision is to provide family-centred care and opportunities for your child. Because every child is an individual, we work with you to meet their needs in a flexible, fun and safe way. Staff will take time to listen to you. We'll follow through programmes and goals you already have in place. We also develop a care plan with you, to meet your child's needs.
