Child Sexual Abuse Assessment and Treatment Service

Clinical Services
The service provides health care for children and young people aged 0 – 13 years following a disclosure of historic sexual abuse or recent sexual assault. Services include:

  • Medical assessments
  • Assessment and Treatment Service
  • Forensic assessments
  • Education, reassurance and support
  • Referral to counselling
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
  • Sexual health and contraception advice
  • Emergency contraception
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Register ACC claims

Educational Services
Clinical staff work throughout Northland to raise awareness and to support actions that prevent and protect children from sexual abuse; by providing:

  • Education
  • Information and resources
  • Consultation and advice
  • Consultation on childhood sexual behaviours.
