A specialist medical service for children, adolescents and adults who have been sexually assaulted or abused, recently or in the past. Forensic and non-forensic assessment and treatment by forensically trained doctors and nurses.

Description:
South Canterbury Sexual Abuse Assessment and Treatment Service provides confidential, immediate and historical assessment, forensic and non-forensic, for anyone that has been sexually abused or assaulted. Our doctors and nurses are specially trained in sexual abuse medicine and care and we work in partnership with Paediatricians and other specialists as required.
Services provided include:
- 24/7 forensic assessments if reporting to the Police
- Medical assessments and treatment, and medication if required
- Referral to specialist supporting agencies

The quickest way to get an urgent medical forensic examination is to call 111 or
Mid-South Island STAR Centre your local crisis service on 0800 00 7750 who will contact one of our specialist doctors.
Call (03) 687 2100 and ask for the Sexual Abuse Assessment & Treatment Service (SAATS).
