Profile
Patrick trained in the United Kingdom and spent one year as a teaching Fellow in the ENT Department at Dunedin Hospital. After five years consultant practice in the UK he returned to Dunedin in 1998 and took up his academic and clinical positions.
He is currently Clinical Director of the ORLHNS Service and Convenor for ENT Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine-Dunedin, University of Otago. He was president of the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology Head and neck Surgery 2017-2019.
Interests
Patrick now limits his practice to student teaching and outpatient clinical work at Dunedin Hospital.
His current primary research interests are optimising student ENT Teaching and epidemiology of hearing loss in frail, older adults. He retains a research interest in children’s tonsil and adenoid disease.
