Profile
Rinki is an endocrinologist and internal medicine physician working at Te Mana Ki Tua Specialist Weight Management Service Counties Manukau Health and Auckland Diabetes Centre. She is also a professor in medicine at the University of Auckland where she has an active role in both teaching and clinical research in diabetes and obesity.
Rinki has set up the New Zealand national testing guidelines for monogenic diabetes (www.nzssd.org.nz).

Rinki’s special clinical interests and expertise includes the management of adults with:
- obesity and disorders associated with obesity
- including medical supervision of very low calorie diet programme
- diabetes – all aspects of diagnosis and management including insulin pumps
- investigation for genetic etiology of familial atypical diabetes
- management of monogenic diabetes
- metabolic syndrome
- severe insulin resistance
- lipodystrophy
- polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hirsutism.
