Description
At Whare Timatatanga Hou Ora, we provide support and advocacy for women and children who are victims of physical, mental, spiritual, financial, sexual abuse and violence. Our services cover the far north region from Umawera in the South to the top of the North Island (the Cape). Kaeo in the East to Mitimiti in the West.
Our services include:
- 24/7 Crisis line support
- Confidential, non judgemental support
- Safe house accommodation
- Advocacy services (when dealing with police, legal, court, WINZ, housing, doctors, schools and Oranga Tamariki and other service providers
- Domestic violence education
- Community services
- Outreach services
- Assessment and referral advice to consellors, doctors, lawyers and other support services
- Womens domestic violence support and education programme

We are a Kaupapa Maori Refuge. However, since our sister refuges are over an hour away, we accept clients of any ethnicity. Our sister refuges are Mid North Women's Refuge (1hr 15mins away), Tryphina House (2hr 30mins away) and Te Puna O Te Aroha (2hr 30mins away).
