Court Services for Victims is a free and confidential service to help you take part in the court process, following a sexual harm crime.
Age: All ages. When supporting children, we work closely with caregivers
Region: District and High Courts across New Zealand
Description:
Court Services for Victims are delivered by Sexual Violence Victim Advisors, who are specialists in delivering services to victims of sexual harm crimes.
The service is available from the defendant's first day in court, until sentencing and through any appeals. Usually the same Victim Advisor will be assigned throughout the whole case.
Your Sexual Violence Victim Advisor can help you by:
- advising you about your rights under the Victim's Rights Act 2002
- providing information about your case
- helping you take part in the court process
See here for more information.
This is not a counselling service; emotional support is available to you from other organisations.
How to Access:
Referrals come direct from Police.
To contact a Sexual Violence Victim Advisor, phone Victims Information on 0800 650 654, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
