Description
The UMMA Trust provides social services to refugee and migrant families with a specific focus on the wellbeing of Muslim women, children and families who are socially and economically disadvantaged and in the process of resettlement in Auckland, New Zealand. Our programmes include domestic violence and parenting programmes.
We also provide a diversity of health, education, budgeting and recreation programmes for women, children and youth that aim to ensure that families are able to lead productive and quality lives and be actively involved in New Zealand society.
Staff
Umma Trust employs ethnic social workers from refugee backgrounds including two who are the first Somali social workers to be registered.

Families work from their own cultural and spiritual perspective to plan weekly, monthly and annual budgeting and are connected to on line banking / Real Me / WINZ etc to enable control over family income and expenditure and longer term financial planning.
