Health Promotion Agency (HPA)

The Health Promotion Agency (HPA) is a Crown entity established under the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000. It has a Board that is appointed by the Minister of Health.
HPA was formed on 1 July 2012 through the merger of the Alcohol Advisory Council (ALAC) and Health Sponsorship Council (HSC) and some health promotion functions previously delivered by the Ministry of Health.
HPA is funded from Vote Health and the levy on alcohol produced or imported for sale in New Zealand.
