Description
Our three care homes in the Bay of Plenty offer a new standard in aged care with Somervale being the largest at 69 beds. They are based on a more integrative homestead model of care, this is vastly different from the traditional institutional model offered in many care homes. Residents live in smaller groups, with each group having their own kitchen, dining room and lounge area reflecting a modern home environment. The boutique-like care home, with its friendlier layout, creates a much more intimate and personalised environment for the residents and their families.
At Somervale residents live in smaller groups of no more than 12 care suites.
Even for the most able retiree, there comes a time when help is needed with the basics of day-to-day living. Family members often step in to provide support, however there is always a limit to how much time can be committed and the level of care they can provide.
Somervale also has a co-joined wing of 16 serviced apartments. Residents in these apartments can receive DHB funded short term services if assessed as needing them. (e.g. following a DHB admission and return to home). This care can be delivered by our Village Services team. Residents in the village are also able to access this short term care if this has been assessed as being needed.

Fees and Charges Description
Somervale has a premium room rate on all rooms. This is a charge for the environment which has been built to operate as a family home rather than a traditional 'hospital ward' like environment. In this care home, the accommodation has a supplement pricing of $75.38 per day. This pricing covers additional comforts and facilities over and above the standard provision for residential care.
Each room is larger than a standard room, has individual heat pump/air conditioner, a 40 inch TV, wifi, reclining arm chairs, built in wardrobes, and ensuites. Every room has sensor beam technology to assist residents by alerting staff when someone is on the move.
Some rooms have ceiling hoists and some have ranch-slider access to the outside. Upstairs rooms have Juliet balconies for uninterrupted views.
Hallways are spacious and living areas numerous - with instant iced water and boiling water. Families/visitors are encouraged to make themselves hot drinks.
